Hello, I’m Roxie
Apparently, retirement had other plans.
I started At Home with Roxie after retiring as a place to share my love of cooking, family recipes and life at home. Somewhere along the way, retirement became a whole lot busier than I expected.
These days, you’ll usually find me cooking from scratch, baking sourdough, decorating, tackling a DIY project, digging in the garden, writing, creating for Lace & Grit—or bringing home something old and interesting that I probably didn’t need.
At Home with Roxie is where all those pieces come together—good food, a well-loved home, creative projects, family traditions and whatever else I happen to get myself into.
More About Me →“I thought retirement might slow things down a little. Apparently, I had other plans.”
Pull Up a Chair
What shall we get into today?
Around here, one project has a habit of leading to another. Start with whatever catches your eye.
From My Kitchen
The recipes worth making again.
Cooking is where At Home with Roxie began, and it will always have a place at the heart of this site.
You’ll find family recipes, everyday favorites, sourdough adventures, cast iron cooking and the dishes that have earned a permanent place at our table. Nothing too precious—just good food made at home and shared with the people we love.
Come Into the Kitchen →Around the House
Collected slowly. Loved for a long time.
I have never been very interested in rooms that look as though everything arrived on the same truck. I like old pieces, family things, useful things and objects that make you stop and wonder where they’ve been.
This is where I’ll share decorating, seasonal changes, rooms in progress, things I’m restoring and the stories behind some of the pieces that make our house feel like ours.
Look Around the House →A Note From Home
I think every room should have at least one thing with a story.
It doesn’t need to be valuable. It only needs to mean something to the people who live there.
Garden & Herbs
From the garden to the house.
Herbs for the kitchen, plants I couldn’t resist, things that flourished and a few things that absolutely did not—the garden is always teaching me something.
I especially love the place where growing and home meet: herbs in the kitchen, dried botanicals, seasonal arrangements and bringing a little bit of the outdoors inside.
Into the Garden →And Then There’s Everything Else
What I’m getting into lately.
There is almost always another idea waiting its turn.
01 • Projects & Making
There’s always something in progress.
Room makeovers, old furniture, DIY experiments and those projects that sounded much easier before I started them.
02 • Books & Stories
Stories worth keeping.
Family stories, things worth remembering and a few books that I really am going to finish one of these days.
03 • Currently
Whatever caught my attention this week.
Cooking, decorating, planting, researching, rearranging—or convincing myself that the next project will only take an afternoon.
From My Home to Lace & Grit
Where curiosity becomes a collection.
Lace & Grit grew from many of the same things you’ll find around my home—old botanical studies, natural history, collected interiors and objects that seem to have a story tucked inside them.
At Home with Roxie is the lived-in side of that world. Lace & Grit is where some of those ideas become collections of their own.
